Dawn Meredith
 Background:
Born in a small town beside the English Channel, Dawn’s family emigrated to Australia when she was four years old to live in Perth, Western Australia. Eight years later, her family moved to Norway, where they lived on a small island of 200 people. Dawn married and settled in NSW. In 2018 Dawn and her family left NSW to buy a 100 acre farm in the Central North of Tasmania

 Dawn has a B.Ed in Secondary Fine Arts and English. She trained further as a Special Education Teacher and Children’s Counsellor and worked for many years in both Primary and High Schools in NSW. BOOKS:
Dawn has authored 15 books in fiction & non-fiction, for children, young adults and adults. She has also written pieces for curriculum based publishers such as Hodder Headline, Rigby Heinemann and Blake Education. Her most successful book to date is 12 Annoying Monsters - Self Talk for Kids with Anxiety reaching children all over the world. Dawn has produced a wide variety of work, including the five year project with WWII veteran Jim Haynes to produce his memoir The Boy Who Went to War.
 
Dawn was awarded a May Gibbs Literature Trust Fellowship in 2011 and spent 4 weeks in Adelaide working on manuscripts and running workshops at schools and libraries. In 2016 Dawn won the 2016 SCBWI Andrea Davis Pinkney Writer Award for her then incomplete manuscript Letters From the Dead which was published in 2017.
 
In 2020 her young adult fantasy novel Rebel was published by Shooting Star Press. It is book one of her FLIGHT trilogy. Book two, Runaway, was published in December 2024. In 2025 she is working on a novel for younger readers, The Vanishing of Georgie Barrett, her 16th book.
